LAN / Live Architecture Network

2007 - 2015

The Live Architecture Network (LAN) thrived on the energy of a global collaborative community during an era when digital fabrication technologies were revolutionizing design education worldwide. With a focus on the intersection of architecture, design, education, industry, and community engagement, LAN was founded with the vision of shaping a dynamic and participatory educational movement for the next generation of designers.

By leveraging emerging technologies of the time—such as laser cutting, 3D printing, parametric modeling, and CNC routing—LAN fostered dialogue and innovation in architectural practices that centered on human experiences. The network empowered designers and students to explore groundbreaking tools and approaches, advancing creative possibilities in architectural and design education & practice.

By the books, the Live Architecture Network (LAN) traversed 18 countries through its workshops and project consulting, showcasing talent and fostering innovation on a global scale. Ahead of its time in its remote work ethos, LAN embraced a wandering and distributed education model, engaging workshop tutors from diverse locales—including Spain, USA, Mexico, Italy, UK and Australia—to bring together a rich tapestry of expertise and perspectives that redefined architectural and design education.

Voluntary Roles

LightShine Canine is a dog rescue focused on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations and the nearby border towns. At LightShine Canine we bring the heart of the Lakota and the needs of the dogs together. Our goal is to rescue stray, abandoned, injured or abused dogs on the Pine Ridge Reservation with the help of Lakota youth and adults working on sobriety...and to find these dogs forever homes. Our adoption fees help us continue to do this and to provide community outreach to Tribal members in the form of dog food, vaccines and spay/neuter. Our dog rescue work program is geared to ensure that the dogs we rescue and the Lakota who assist us with this dream are changed forever.
