On the evening of June 26, Morris tragically lost his life just outside his own doorstep during a 90-second encounter with police while experiencing an acute mental health crisis. Those 90 seconds have understandably become the focus of many conversations since his passing. For this evening, we want to remember the life that came before them.

Among the many small ways Morris showed his care for others was a summer tradition familiar to neighborhood kids: when the ice cream truck came around, Morris would treat. We’d like to carry that forward.

Please join us from 6–8 PM on the 200 Block of Flint Way for Morris’ Ice Cream Potluck. Bring a favorite frozen treat, toppings, drinks, or dessert to share—or simply come spend some time together.

As 7:42 PM nears—the time we lost Morris—we’ll let the evening shift from celebration to remembrance, with candlelight and a moment of silence.

If Morris’ memory leaves us with anything, perhaps it can be a reminder of how much our community can look out for one another. All neighbors welcome. Morris would be proud of an evening that reminds us we all belong.
